Pharmaceutical form, composition and packaging

Capsules soft gelatin, oblong, with two-tone coloring the longitudinal halves of the shell in a light- and dark brown color.

Excipients: vitamin C, tallow, rapeseed oil, soy lecithin, gelatin, sorbitol 70%, glycerol, iron oxide red, iron oxide black, ethyl vanillin.

Pharmacological action

Antianemic drug combined structure.

Part of the preparation of iron sulphate up for iron deficiency in the body. Iron is part of hemoglobin, myoglobin and some enzymes. As a structural component of heme, is involved in erythropoiesis.

Ascorbic acid helps improve iron absorption in the intestine.

Цianokoʙalamin (vitamin B₁₂) and folic acid are involved in the formation and maturation of red blood cells.

The active ingredients of the drug Ferro-Folgamma^® They are in a special neutral shell, which ensures their absorption, mainly from the upper part of the small intestine. No local irritation to the stomach lining promotes good tolerability of the drug from the gastrointestinal tract.

- Treatment of anemia, caused by the combined iron deficiency, folic acid and vitamin B₁₂, resulting in chronic blood loss (gastrorrhagia, enterorrhagia, cystistaxis, bleeding hemorrhoids, Menno- and metrorrhagia), and with chronic alcoholism, Infectious Diseases, receiving anticonvulsants and oral contraceptives;

- Treatment of anemia, arising during pregnancy and lactation (breast-feeding);

- Prevention of iron deficiency and folic acid in the II and III trimester of pregnancy, postpartum, lactation (breast-feeding).

Dosage regimen

At less severe anemia the drug is prescribed for 1 caps. 3 times / day for 3-4 weeks; at to moderate anemia – by 1 caps. 3 times / day for 8-12 weeks; at During severe anemia – by 2 caps. 3 times / day for 16 weeks or more.

To prevention of iron deficiency and folic acid during pregnancy and lactation the drug is prescribed for 1 caps. 3 times / day in the II and III trimester and postpartum while breastfeeding.

The capsules should be taken orally after a meal.

Side effect

From the digestive system: nausea.

Allergic reactions: eczematous phenomenon, hives, anaphylactoid reactions, anaphylactic shock.

Contraindications

- Anemia, not associated with iron deficiency (hemolytic anemia, megaloblastnaya anemia, associated with isolated deficiency of vitamin B₁₂);

- An excessive content of iron in the body (hemosiderosis, gemoxromatoz);

- Violation of the mechanisms of iron utilization (incl. anemia, caused by lead poisoning, sideroahresticheskaya anemia);

- Liver failure;

Cautions

Overdose

Symptoms: epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, pale skin, development of shock, up to coma.

Drug Interactions

Organic acids, calcium salt, Phosphorus, Phytate, cholestyramine, antacids, aluminum-containing, magnesium, calcium, interfere with the absorption of iron by the formation of insoluble complexes.

The preparations of pancreatic enzymes can reduce the absorption of iron.

Iron salts interfere with the absorption from the gastrointestinal tract antibiotic tetracycline.

With the simultaneous use of the drug Ferro-Folgamma^® phenobarbital, karʙamazepinom, sodium valproate, sulfasalazine, hormonal contraceptives, folic acid antagonists, trimethoprim, pyrimethamine, triamterene reduce the absorption of folic acid.

Solid food, bread, raw cereals, dairy, eggs reduce the absorption of iron when used during treatment with antibiotics tetracycline, and penicillamine, tk. forms complexes, reduces the absorption of iron and reducing the antimicrobial activity of antibiotics.
