Characteristic.

The white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and alcohol.

Pharmacological action.
Mucolytic, expectorant, antitussive.

Application.

Acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with sputum discharge violation.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy (especially in the I trimester), breast-feeding.

Side effects.

Gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, exacerbation of peptic ulcer disease), increased activity of aminotransferases, allergic skin reactions, angioedema.

Cooperation.

Codeine preparations hinder discharge of liquefied sputum. It promotes the penetration of antibiotics (Erythromycin, Cephalexin, oxytetracycline) in lung tissue.

Dosing and Administration.
