Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography – MRHPG
Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP)
What is magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography?
MRI uses magnetic waves and a computer, to make pictures of internal structures of the body. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRHPG) It is a special type of MRI. It applies, to make pictures of hepatobiliary and pancreatic human systems.
When performing magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography? – Reasons for MRCP
MRCP is used to check:
- Liver;
- Gallbladder;
- The bile ducts of the liver, which passes the bile;
- Pancreas and pancreatic duct, which are digestive enzymes.
Your doctor may prescribe MRCP, to find:
- The cause of these symptoms, like abdominal pain or jaundice – yellowing of the skin, cause liver problems;
- Some diseases – pancreatitis, causing inflammation of the pancreas;
- Blockage of the bile duct;
- Possible tumors or other education.
