Pharmacological action

Combined preparation, regulates the exchange of calcium and phosphorus in the body (bone, teeth, nails, hair, muscle).

Reduces resorption (resolution) and increases bone density, remedy the lack of calcium and vitamin D3 body, required for mineralization of teeth.

Calcium is involved in the regulation of nerve conduction, muscle contractions and is a component of the blood coagulation system.

Vitamin D3 (Kolekaltsiferol) increases intestinal calcium absorption.

The use of calcium and vitamin D3 prevents an increase in production of parathyroid hormone, which is a stimulator of bone resorption increased (leaching of calcium from the bones).

Pharmacokinetics

Vitamin D3 absorbed in the lower intestine.

Calcium absorbed in ionised form in the proximal part of the small intestine by active vitamin D-dependent transport mechanism.

Testimony

- Prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency and / or vitamin D3;

- Prevention and complex therapy of osteoporosis (incl. menopausal, senile, steroid, Idiopathic).

Dosage regimen

Adults at treatment osteporoza appoint 1 tab. 2-3 times / day, to prevention of osteoporosis – by 1 tab. 2 times / day.

At deficiency of calcium and vitamin D adults and children over 12 years appoint 1 tab. 2 times / day, children aged 5 to 12 years – by 1-2 tab. / day, children aged 3 to 5 years dosing regimen set individually.

A tablet may be chewed or dissolve and take with meals.

From the digestive system: possible constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, stomach ache.

Metabolism: hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria.

Other: allergic reactions.

- Hypercalciuria;

- Nephrolithiasis;

- hypervitaminosis D;

- Severe renal insufficiency;

- An active form of tuberculosis;

- Sarkoidoz;

- Hypersensitivity to the drug.

The dosage form tablets are not used in children under the age of 3 years.

Pregnancy and lactation

Caution should be exercised when administering the drug during pregnancy and lactation.

In pregnancy, the daily dose should not exceed 1500 mg calcium 600 ME of vitamin D3. Hypercalcemia, developing on the background of an overdose during pregnancy, defects can cause mental and physical development of the child.

Vitamin D and its metabolites are excreted in breast milk, therefore it is necessary to take into account the additional intake of calcium and vitamin D from other sources in the mother and child.

Cautions

Tablets Calcium-D3 Nycomed soderzhat aspartame, which the body is transformed to phenylalanine, so the drug should not be taken at phenylketonuria.

In applying the drug Calcium-D3 Nycomed in patients, receiving cardiac glycosides and / or diuretics, necessary to control the concentration of calcium and creatinine in blood serum.

In case of high calcium concentration or serum creatinine, and in case of exceeding hypercalciuria 7.5 mg / day (300 mg / day) It should reduce the dose or temporarily discontinue treatment.

To avoid overdose should take into account the additional intake of vitamin D3 from other sources.

Reception food, containing oxalates (sorrel, spinach) and phytin (Cereals) reduces the absorption of calcium, therefore should not be taken Calcium-D3 Nycomed for 2 h after administration of sorrel, spinach, croup.

Calcium-D3 Nycomed should be used with caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis due to the risk of hypercalcemia.

Overdose

Symptoms: anorexia, thirst, polyuria, decreased appetite, dizziness, fainting, weakness, nausea, vomiting, hypercalciuria, hypercalcemia, giperkreatininemiя; long-term use in excessive doses – calcification of blood vessels and tissues.

Treatment: immediately remove the drug. It is recommended that the administration of a large amount of liquid, application “loop” diuretics (eg, furosemida), GCS, Calcitonin, ʙisfosfonatov.

Patients should be warned, that in case of signs of overdose, seek medical advice.

Drug Interactions

While the use of phenytoin or barbiturates may reduce the activity of vitamin D3.

Calcium can potentiate the therapeutic and toxic effects of cardiac glycosides, therefore, while the application of the drug Calcium-D3 Nycomed and cardiac glycosides is necessary to monitor the ECG and the clinical condition of the patient.

Calcium and vitamin D3 may increase the absorption of tetracycline from the digestive tract, so the interval between taking the drug Calcium-D3 Nycomed and antibiotics tetracycline group should not be less than 3 no.

While the use of bisphosphonates or sodium fluoride may reduce absorption, so it is recommended to take Calcium-D3 Nycomed not earlier, than 2 hours after these medicines.

Corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption, therefore patients, receiving corticosteroids, You may need to increase the dose of the drug Calcium-D3 Nicomedia.

In an application with kolestiraminom or laxatives based on mineral or vegetable oil it may decrease the absorption of vitamin D3.

While the use of thiazide diuretics increases the risk of hypercalcemia due to increased tubular reabsorption of calcium. Furosemide and other “loop” Diuretic, conversely, increase the excretion of calcium by the kidneys.
