Drotaverine: pharmachologic effect

Antispasmodics myotropic action. On chemical structure and pharmacological properties similar to papaverine, however, it is superior in effectiveness and duration of action. It reduces the tone of smooth muscles of internal organs, reduces their locomotor activity. It has vasodilatory action.

Drotaverine: pharmacokinetics

Once inside drotaverine is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Bioavailability – about 100%. Do not cross the BBB.

Drotaverine: testimony

Prevention and treatment of functional disorders and pain, induced smooth muscle spasm (incl. spasms of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, associated with cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, stomach ulcer, duodenal; spasm of the pyloric and gastric cardia; spastic constipation, spasticheskiy colitis; proctitis, tenesmus; postoperative colic due to the delay of gases; due to nephrolithiasis, pielitah); during the instrumental studies; peripheral artery spasms, cerebrovascular; algomenorrhea.

To reduce the excitability of the uterus during pregnancy; in spasm cervix during labor, protracted disclosure throat, afterpains, threatened abortion.

Drotaverine: dosing regimen

Inside, / m, in / or p / adult – by 40-80 mg 1-3 times / day. In hepatic and renal colic should enter into / in slowly at a dose 40-80 mg.

Peripheral arterial spasm can be administered in drotaverine / a.

For children under the age of 6 s when administered single dose of 10-20 mg, 6-12 years – 20 mg, frequency of use 1-2 times / day.

Drotaverine: side effects

Cardio-vascular system: heartbeat, feeling the heat; at / in a marked decrease in blood pressure cases (up to the collapse), development of AV-blockade, appearance of arrhythmias.

Drotaverine can be used in a combination therapy for the relief of hypertensive crisis.

Drotaverine: drug interaction

With simultaneous use of tricyclic antidepressants, xinidinom, procainamide intensified blood pressure reduction, caused by tricyclic antidepressants, quinidine and procainamide.

With simultaneous application of decreasing the activity of morphine spasmogens.

While the use of levodopa may be reduced antiparkinson effect of levodopa.

In an application enhanced effect of papaverine, bendazol and other antispasmodics (incl. Mr. holinoblokatorov).

While the use of phenobarbital increases the severity of antispasmodic action drotaverine.
