Pharmacological action

Antiseptic for local application in an ENT-practice and stomatology.

Cetylpyridinium chloride – antiseptic from the group consisting of quaternary ammonium compounds, It has antimicrobial, fungicidal and virucidal action.

Testimony

Infectious-inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat:

- Pharyngitis;

- Laringit;

- Sore throat (initial stage);

- Gingivitis;

- Stomatitis.

 

Dosage regimen

The lozenge should dissolve in the mouth until complete dissolution.

Adults and children over the age of 12 years it is recommended to take a lozenge every 2-3 no, but not more 8 lozenges / day.

Children under the age of 4 years it is recommended to take a lozenge every 3-4 no, but not more 4 lozenges / day.

Children aged 10 to 12 years it is recommended to take a lozenge every 3-4 no, but not more 6 lozenges / day.

Lozenges should not be taken right before or during a meal.

 

Side effect

Side effects are rare, if you take lozenges Septolete® Neo at the recommended doses.

Maybe: allergic reactions, gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, diarrhea), the manifestation of which the drug should be discontinued.

The preparation contains polyols (maltitol, mannitol), which in large doses can cause diarrhea, especially in children.

 

Contraindications

- Children up to age 4 years;

- Hypersensitivity to the drug.

 

Pregnancy and lactation

Septolete® Neo should be used with caution during pregnancy and lactation.

 

Cautions

Pastilles should not take the presence of open wounds in the mouth, as tsetipiridiniya chloride slows wound healing.

In heavy infections, accompanied by high temperature, headache and vomiting, you should consult your doctor, especially if the condition does not improve within 3 days.

Patients with diabetes should be informed, what in 1 lozenge contains about 1 Mr. maltilol. For maltilol need insulin metabolism, but due to the slow hydrolysis and absorption in the gastrointestinal tract low glycemic index. Energy value maltilol (10 kJ / g or 2.4 kcal / g) also significantly lower, of sucrose.

Do not take higher doses, than recommended.

Effects on ability to drive vehicles and management mechanisms

Pastilles do not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.

 

Overdose

Given the amount of active substance, contained in 1 pastilke, the possibility of overdose minimum.

Symptoms: in excess of the recommended dose – disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (nausea, vomiting and diarrhea).

Treatment: should stop taking the drug and seek medical advice.

 

Drug Interactions

Lozenges should not be taken with milk, as possible to reduce the antimicrobial activity of cetylpyridinium chloride.
