Rózsa (disease) – Erysipelas
What is Erysipelas?
Rózsa (rožistaâ infection) – infection of the upper layers of the skin streptokokkovymi bacteria.
Causes Erysipelas
Erysipelas is caused by bacteria. Source of Erysipelas are bacteria, living on human skin, or getting it from other sources. They can get into the skin through a cut or damage. After falling into a favourable environment, bacteria can multiply and spread to the surrounding skin.
Risk factors of Erysipelas
Erysipelas can occur in persons of any age. Nonetheless, rožistaâ infection most often infects infants and the elderly.
Any skin damage, such as cut, scratch, blister, burn, puncture, ulcer or bite can increase the risk of Erysipelas. Skin damage can also be caused by certain skin diseases, such as:
- Athlete's foot (Mycosis of feet);
- Eczema;
- Impetigo;
- Herpes.
Risk of skin infections may also be increased for diseases, that cause hit blood or bodily fluids in the skin, eg, When such as:
- Limfedema;
- Venous insufficiency.
Symptoms of rye
Erysipelas can occur anywhere on the skin, but most often affects the face, hands, or feet.
Erysipelas symptoms may include:
- Warm, red, swollen skin;
- Blisters on the skin;
- Pain or soreness;
- Swollen glands or lymph nodes;
- Fever or chills.
Diagnosis of rye
The doctor will ask about your symptoms and medical history, and perform a physical exam. A doctor may diagnose Erysipelas on the basis of the appearance of the skin.
Further testing may be assigned, If the infection is not treatable, expected, to determine the type of infection, or if you have a compromised immune system. For information about the type of bacteria and the reaction of the organism can be assigned the following analyses:
- Blood test;
- Study on culture or excision of skin.
Treatment of Erysipelas
Methods of treatment of Erysipelas include:
Antibiotics, used in the treatment of bacterial infection. The drug can be administered intravenously or in pill form or oral liquids.
Prevention of rye
To reduce the risk of Erysipelas:
- Keep skin;
- Moisturize dry skin with lotion;
- Avoid skin injuries:
- Wear protective clothing when playing sports;
- Wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts, going on nature;
- Wear sandals, When you are on the beach, Do not go barefoot;
- Be careful, referring to animals, avoid their bites;
- Do not swim in natural waters, if you have cuts or sores;
- Be careful not to cut yourself while fishing or when doing water sports;
- If you have a small cut, bite, or other skin injuries:
- Wash cuts or scrapes with SOAP and water;
- Apply antibiotic ointment wound;
- Put on the wound with a bandage;
- Do not scrub the wound;
- Consult your doctor, If the area around the wound becomes red or inflamed;
- In the case of large wounds or bites, contact the hospital;
- Wash your hands after contact with fish, Bird, eggs or meat. Do not process these products, if you have cuts or sores;
- If your feet, usually, swelled, lift them several times a day, and wear elastic stockings;
- Make the recommended vaccinations for children and adults.
