Pharmacological properties

Farmakodinamika. The properties of the drug are characterized by its individual components: neomycin sulfate - aminoglycoside antibiotic, which has a bactericidal effect by blocking the function of bacterial ribosomes in a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Corynebacterium spp., Staphylococcus spp., Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Enterococcus faecium, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Ptotheus vulgaris

and so on.; Polymyxin B sulfate is a polypeptide antibiotic, which acts bactericidal against predominantly gram-negative flora, especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa; strains are also sensitive E. coli, Schigellage, Klebsiellae, Pasteurellae, Serratiae, Staphylococcus spp., Enterobacter, Salmonellae, Haemophilus, Bordetella. Polymyxin B disrupts the osmotic resistance of bacterial membranes, and is also active against pathogens, which are in the dormant stage. Nystatin is a polyene antibiotic, which acts fungicidal or fungistatic by binding ergosterol to the cytoplasmic membrane of fungi. Shows activity regarding Candida spp., Histoplasma spp., Coccidioides spp., Cryptococcus spp., Aspergillus, Blastomyces dermatidis. Resistance to the active ingredients of Polygynax develops rarely and slowly.
Dimethylpolysiloxane, contained in a drug as an excipient, is an organic compound with a high molecular weight, which has an enveloping property and antipruritic effect, improves trophic processes in the vaginal mucosa, and also promotes the penetration of the active components of the drug into the folds of the mucous membrane.
Pharmacokinetics. Not studied.

Testimony

vaginitis, caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug, including:
– bacterial vaginitis, caused by banal pyogenic microflora;
– recurrent nonspecific vaginitis;
- Vaginitis, caused by fungi of the genus Candida;
- Vaginitis, caused by mixed infection.
In order to prevent infectious complications, Polygynax is recommended to be used before any surgical intervention on the genitals., before abortion, when installing an intrauterine system, before and after cervical diathermocoagulation, before intrauterine and intraurethral examination, before childbirth.

APPLICATIONS

adults are prescribed intravaginally 1 capsule per day before bedtime. A course of treatment - 12 days. Preventive course - 6 days. The drug can be used during menstruation.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to the drug.

SIDE EFFECTS

When using the drug in recommended doses, the risk of side effects is minimal.

Cautions

to avoid disease transmission, the patient must be warned about the use of certain personal hygiene products (washcloth, towel, etc.), wearing natural cotton underwear, During treatment you should not use sanitary tampons.
To prevent re-infection, simultaneous treatment of the sexual partner is necessary.
Use during pregnancy and lactation. In clinical practice, no teratogenic or fetotoxic effects of Polygynax were observed.. Monitoring of pregnancies to examine all possible side effects is not sufficient to eliminate all risks.
Therefore, use during pregnancy is possible only as prescribed by a doctor in those cases, when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child.
During breastfeeding, use with caution according to indications..
Children. In pediatric practice, a special dosage form is used - Polygynax Virgo.

INTERACTION

the drug may inhibit the effect of local spermicidal contraceptives. It must be borne in mind, that Polygynax, when used simultaneously with a latex condom, increases the risk of rupture of the latter.

Overdose

No cases of overdose were reported.
