Pharmacological action

Progestogen, contraceptive. It influences the gonadotrophic pituitary function, which leads to a slight reduction in peak FSH and LH. Causes changes in the endometrium, that lead to the disruption of implantation of the egg. Increases the viscosity of cervical mucus, that impedes the progress of sperm.

Pharmacokinetics

It is metabolized in the liver with the formation of sulfate and glucuronide conjugates, are excreted in the urine and feces with less.

Testimony

Hormonal contraception. Hormone replacement therapy (in a combination therapy).

Dosage regimen

Individual. It is used in combined preparations.

Side effect

On the part of the reproductive system: acyclic intermenstrual spotting, shortening of the menstrual cycle (less 25 days) or oligomenorrhea (more 45 days), breast engorgement, decreased libido.

On the part of the endocrine system: reduced glucose tolerance, weight gain, fluid retention.

Dermatological reactions: pigmentation, acne.

Other: arterial hypertension, nausea, headache.

Contraindications

Irregular menstrual cycle, acyclic uterine bleeding of unknown origin, Malignant neoplasm of breast and reproductive system, heavy menstruation, a severe form of diabetes, arterial hypertension, epilepsy, ectopic pregnancy history.

Pregnancy and lactation

Pregnancy, stepped on while taking norgestrel, it is recommended to interrupt. Perhaps the use of norgestrel lactation, but not earlier than 6-8 months after delivery.

Cautions

When acyclic bleeding or oligomenorrhea requires careful examination of the woman to avoid pregnancy (incl. and ectopic) and organic pathology.

Drug Interactions

Simultaneous administration of antibiotics reduces the contraceptive effect.
