Pharmacological action
Combination drug antianemic, action is due to the properties of the components, its constituent.
Iron fumarate – iron salt, microcell, required for the synthesis of hemoglobin. When using iron in the form of salt is rapid replenishment of its deficiency in the body, which leads to progressive regression of clinical (weakness, fatiguability, dizziness, tachycardia, soreness and dryness of the skin) and laboratory symptoms of anemia.
Folic acid is essential for the normal maturation and education megaloblasts normoblasts. It stimulates erythropoiesis, involved in the synthesis of amino acids, nucleic acid, purine and pyrimidine, in exchanging choline. When pregnancy protects the body from the effects of teratogens.
The drug helps to maintain and restore normal levels of iron in the blood. Prevents anemia (incl. Pregnancy), miscarriage, premature labor and violation of children's mental development, which may occur in iron deficiency and folic acid in the body.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption
After oral administration of iron is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Bioavailability of iron 5-35%.
Folic acid is absorbed primarily from the upper GI tract (duodenal).
Distribution and metabolism
Iron is almost entirely associated with plasma transferrin and is involved in the formation of hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochrome oxidase, catalase and peroxidase, or deposited in the tissues of the body in the form of ferritin.
Folate binding to plasma proteins is 64%; biotransformation occurs in the liver.
Deduction
Iron is excreted in the feces, urine and sweat.
Folic acid is excreted mainly by the kidneys; partially – through the intestine.
Testimony
- Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia of various etiologies (incl. Pregnancy, in violation of iron absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, during prolonged bleeding, when inadequate and unbalanced nutrition).
Dosage regimen
The drug is prescribed for 1 capsule / day.
At pronounced iron deficiency or folic acid increase the dose to 2-3 capsules / day. Therapy preparation should be to normalize the peripheral blood (8-12 weeks). Supportive therapy is carried out for at least another 4 weeks after reaching normal levels of hemoglobin.
The drug should be taken on an empty stomach, drinking plenty of fluids.
Side effect
From the digestive system: in some cases – feeling of fullness, discomfort, nausea, vomiting.
Preparation, usually, well tolerated.
Contraindications
- Diseases, accompanied by the accumulation of iron in the body (aplastic and hemolytic anemia, Thalassemia, hemosiderosis, gemoxromatoz);
- Violation of iron absorption (sideroahresticheskaya anemia, svintsovaya anemia, pernicious anemia / deficiency of vitamin B12/);
- Anemia, not associated with iron deficiency or folic acid;
- Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Pregnancy and lactation
Perhaps the use of the drug Ferretab® Comp during pregnancy and lactation (breast-feeding) on indications.
Cautions
Before the start of drug therapy is necessary to determine the content of iron and ferritin in serum.
In applying the drug appears dark staining of feces, that has no clinical significance.
Against the background of the drug may receive false positive result benzidine samples.
Overdose
Symptoms: possibly increasing incidence described side effects.
Treatment: first need to determine the content of iron and serum ferritin. With a significant excess of the normal range of serum ferritin deferoxamine appointed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended dose.
Drug Interactions
In an application Ferretab® PC with antacids iron absorption worsens.
In an application Ferretab® complex with ascorbic acid improves iron absorption.
In a joint application of antibiotics of the tetracycline group and Ferretab® PC disturbed iron absorption.

The drug should be stored in the dark, inaccessible to children at temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Shelf life – 3 year.
