Antiseptic. Chlorhexidine is active against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, and yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses. At the bacteria spores acts only at elevated temperature. It cleans and disinfects the skin, without causing damage to it.

For topical application,: Trichomonas colpitis, cervical erosion, itching of the vulva, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (incl. gonorrhea, Syphilis, trichomoniasis, xlamidioza, ureaplazmoza); gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, periodontitis, alveolitis, disinfection of dentures; sore throat; post-operative care of patients at the offices of ENT and dentistry.
Wound, burn wounds and surfaces; disinfection of the patient's skin.
Processing surgeon's hands, staff and the surgical field before diagnostic procedures, surgery.
Surface Disinfection equipment (including thermometers) and equipment, heat treatment which is undesirable.
The dosage and method of application depend on indications and dosage form of chlorhexidine.
Maybe: allergic reactions.
Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine.
It retains activity in the presence of impurities of blood and organic matter. Do not allow contact with chlorhexidine in the eye (Except for a special formulation, designed for eyewash), as well as contact with the meninges and the auditory nerve.
Chlorhexidine is incompatible with soap, and also with detergents, containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl, sodium carboxymethylcellulose).
Compatible with drugs, containing cationic group (tsetrimoniy bromide, benzalkonium chloride).
