Characteristic.

Butamirata - almost colorless liquid with a characteristic odor, practically insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, acetone, ether. Butamirate citrate - white, hygroscopic crystals. Molecular weight - 499,55.

Pharmacological action.
Antitussive, bronchodilator.

Application.

Dry cough from any cause (incl. in front of- and postoperative, during surgery, bronchoscopy), pertussis.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity, drops - up to age 2 Months, Syrup - up to age 6 Months, forte syrup - to 3 years, tablets - to 6 years, Tablets depot - up 12 years.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Data on butamirata passing through the placental barrier and the safety of its use in pregnancy. Contraindicated for use in the I trimester of pregnancy; in the II and III trimester is possible only after consultation with a doctor. During breastfeeding application is possible only in case of, if the effect of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the child.

Side effects.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, rash.

Overdose.

Symptoms: drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, irritability, dystaxia, decrease in blood pressure.

Treatment: mild forms of treatment do not require overdose; in severe cases - gastric lavage, appointment of activated carbon, saline laxatives, simptomaticheskaya therapy.

Precautions.

Be wary appoint patients with renal insufficiency. If the patient started taking butamirata without consulting a doctor, and after 3-4 days of treatment the cough does not stop, seek medical advice.
