Characteristic.

The white crystalline powder bitter taste with a faint odor. Soluble in ethanol (1:17), very slightly soluble in water (1:450).

Pharmacological action.
Soothing, snotvornoe.

Application.

Insomnia, excitation, xoreja, pertussis.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity, incl. to drugs bromine; acute porphyria, renal, hepatic, respiratory insufficiency.

Side effects.

CNS depression; phenomenon bromism: irritability, ataxia, dysarthria, tachycardia, mydriasis, conjunctivitis, rhinitis, coated tongue, skin rash; allergic reactions.

Dosing and Administration.

Inside, as a sedative - 0.3-0.6 g 1-2 times a day, in case of sleep disturbance - 0.6–0.75 g per 0,5 hours before bedtime. The maximum single dose for adults - 1 g, daily - 2 g.

Children with insomnia, chorea, whooping cough - 0.03–0.1–0.25 g per dose (depending on the age).

Precautions.

To use caution in the background pain.

With prolonged use may develop tolerance.
