Pharmacological action

Antiseptic. It is a quaternary ammonium compound, It refers to cationic surfactants. It has antimicrobial and antiviral activity against Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Herpes simplex типа 2, Staphylococcus aureus, maloaktiven against Gardnerella vaginalis, Candida albicans, Haemophilus ducreyi и Treponema pallidum.

Not active against Mycoplasma spp.

It has a spermicidal effect, which is due to the ability to damage the membrane of sperm; inhibits sperm motility, disturbing the electrolyte balance of the aqueous phase of cervical mucus.
