Characteristic.

White loose powder, odorless and tasteless. Insoluble in water, practically insoluble in dilute acids and alkalis, organic solvents.

Pharmacological action.

Application.

Radiography of the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the upper sections of the small intestine.

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity, bowel obstruction, perforation of the gastrointestinal tract, dehydration, allergic bronchial asthma or a history, mukovystsydoz, Acute diverticulitis, severe ulcerative colitis.

Side effects.

Heavy and prolonged constipation, enterospasms, diarrhea. Anaphylactoid reactions - wheezing and / or shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, pain in the stomach and lower abdomen, abdominal distention.

Dosing and Administration.

The study of the upper gastrointestinal tract: suspension of 80 g of powder and 100 ml of water is taken orally or injected by gastric tube, for double contrast is added to a suspension of sodium citrate and sorbitol.

X-rays of the colon: suspension of 750 g of powder and 1 l 0,5% aqueous tannin solution is introduced into the rectum an enema.

Precautions.
