Sodium lactate

When ATH:
A12CA

Pharmacological action

Means for rehydration. It provides compensation in the extracellular fluid of three major cations – On+, K+, Ca2+. Lactate is metabolized in the body in bicarbonate, so the solution has alkalizing action.

After the on / in the tissue goes into solution within no more than 30 m, therefore it can not be used instead of the illustrated blood or plasma transfusions.

Pharmacokinetics

The data is not provided.

Testimony

Hypovolemia and severe dehydration with normal or low AAR acidosis, incl. in order to offset the deficit of water and electrolytes due to severe vomiting and diarrhea, big burn surface, peritonitis, severe infection; to maintain the volume of extracellular fluid during and after surgery, which makes it possible to temporarily defer blood transfusion; for initial treatment with significant blood loss, shock, injuries.

Dosage regimen

Enter in / in the dose up 2500 ml / day, average rate of administration – 2.5 ml / kg or 60 drops / min, in case of emergency – to 100 drops / min. The amount of solution depends on the clinical condition of the patient.

Side effect

At used in inadequately high dose possible violation of the balance of water and electrolytes, incl. gipervolemia, gipernatriemiya, hyperkalemia, hypercalcemia, hyperchloremia.

Contraindications

Serious liver, acute renal failure, pulmonary edema, alkalosis, Lactic acidosis, hypertonic dehydration.

Pregnancy and lactation

When used in pregnancy cases, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Cautions

It applies only to temporarily maintain plasma volume in the physiological range, in emergencies. Do not use in severe deficit Na+, K+, Ca2+.

With caution used in patients with chronic heart failure, renal impairment, liver and hypoproteinemia, and during treatment with corticosteroids and corticotropin.

When used in large amounts should be controlled AAR.

In the case of an overdose of the solution in most cases sufficient to stop the introduction of. In renal insufficiency, hemodialysis can be used in continuous monitoring of AAR.
