Pharmacological action
The antimicrobial agent broad spectrum for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections (intestinal antiseptic), nitrofuran derivative. In high doses has bactericidal action, smaller – bacteriostatic.
Active against gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.; Gram negative bacteria: Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp.
Pharmacokinetics
Almost not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It acts in the lumen of the intestine.
Testimony
Acute diarrhea of bacterial origin (in the absence of suspicion of infestation).
Dosage regimen
Adults – by 200 mg 4 times / day. Children aged 1 months before 2.5 years – by 100 mg 2-3 times / day; senior 2.5 years – by 200 mg 3 times / day. The duration of treatment – no more 7 days.
Side effect
Maybe: allergic reactions.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the derivatives nitrofuran.
Do not use in newborns (Age to 1 of the month) and premature babies.
Pregnancy and lactation
Perhaps nifuroxazide use during pregnancy and lactation (breast-feeding) on indications.
Cautions
Application nifuroxazide not preclude the need for rehydration therapy if, if there are symptoms of dehydration.
Before use in children older 1 months should be excluded a congenital enzyme deficiency, cleaving sucrose.
Drug Interactions
Simultaneous reception of ethanol can cause symptoms of hypersensitivity.
